JANUARY MEETING UPDATE

There was a general meeting on Sunday, January 6, 2002 at the home of Cathy and Don Magoon. The meeting started at 10:50AM. Don made sure there was hot coffee. Everyone else brought something to share…as usual, there was more than enough food!

In the absence of the President (at the Palm Springs Kennel Club Show) and Vice-President (taking care of the family boat emergency), the meeting was called to order by Recording Secretary Karla Weber.

Karla Weber and Linda Ercoli reported that the October Hunt Test made a profit of $399! It was suggested that the October Hunt Test date be changed to October 26-27. This was discussed and passed. Karla and Linda will again handle the arrangements for the test.

It was also discussed and decided that the Club again hold a November Field Trial. Karen Nelsen and Karla Weber will be handling the arrangements. The date will be November 16-17. This is the same date we have held in the past for the event. Karen Nelsen said she would contact Barb Tucker, GWPCA secretary for national club approval.

While discussing the above two events, the members considered that the GWPCA Nationals were going to be held ten days earlier this year, thus allowing our club to hold both events. (The GWPCA Nationals will be held in Lincoln, Nebraska beginning on Friday October 4th.) This would allow club members attending the Nationals sufficient time with the Hunt Test and the Field Trial.

Cathie Magoon is in charge of the club’s participation in the annual Pet Fair. The dates this year are April 26th -28th. The event has moved to Orange County this year. Times of the event are Friday from 10 to 6, Saturday from 9 to 7, and Sunday from 9 to 6. If you are interested in participating in the event, please contact Cathie at 909-734-2939. More details will appear in the newsletter as they become available.

The Nominating Committee for officers for the upcoming year are Karen Nelsen, Chairman and Charlie Licitra and Luanne Lelewer. (Their recommendations for officers will appear in this issue.)

Karen Nelsen reported that a sympathy card was sent to the family of Linda and Jimmy Rice because of the recent death of Linda’s father Cal.

FIELD TRIAL

Don Magoon has all in order for the upcoming Field Trial the weekend of the 16th and 17th. Karen Nelsen reports that all stakes are full and entries are being taken on a “wait list” basis. Because of the number of entries, we will probably need to add another course, and possibly a extra judge.

Workers are always needed to plant birds, get handlers and dogs to the line and also do other “go-fer” chores. Your help would be greatly appreciated, so please come out and help.

Don reported at the meeting that the use of AKC approved tracking collars will be allowed in all stakes at the Field Trial. Members and participants will be notified of the change.

NOMINATION COMMITTEE REPORT

The Nominating Committee (Karen Nelsen, Charlie Licitra and Luanne Leweler) is pleased to offer the names of the following club members for their respective positions:

Karla Weber President
Don Magoon Vice- President
Luanne Leweler Recording Secretary
Karen Nelsen - Corresponding Secretary
Cathie Magoon Treasurer
