SUPPORTED ENTRY

Joan Payton reports that the gathering after the Antelope Valley show was well attended. In addition to Joan, Nikki was there as was Claudia Burke, Craig and Leslie Troncale, and of course, the Magoon contingency Don, Cathie and Courtney. As usual, there was way too much food, and everyone had a great time. Next year (that means this year 2002) our supported entry will be changing as the Antelope Valley show is moving. Here are the results from the show:

Best of Breed: Jay Mar’s All That Glitters (Magoon)
Best Opposite: Ch Fair Oaks Smoking Gun, JH (Payton)
Winners Bitch: Cynister’s Afternoon Delight (Magoon)

JANUARY MEETING

There will be a general meeting on Sunday, January 6, 2002 at the home of Cathy and Don Magoon. The meeting will start promptly at 10AM. Don is making sure there will be hot coffee. Anyone else planning on attending the meeting, please bring something to share (bagels, cream cheese, muffins, donuts ((MUST be Krispy Kreme’s)), or fruit). Don’t go crazy and bring a lot…smaller portions will do well! Cathy and Nikki will be at the Palm Springs Kennel Club Show, however, our illustrious Vice-President Tom Collins should keep things moving quickly. On tap for discussion is the appointment of a Committee to nominate officers for the upcoming club year, a report on the upcoming Field Trial, and refurbishing the club trailer. It would also be a wonderful opportunity to pay your club dues for the year if you haven’t already done so.

Directions to the Magoon’s home is as follows:
If you are traveling on the 91 Freeway: Take the 15 Freeway North. Exit at Second Street. Turn right and go to Corona Avenue. Their address is 2606 Corona Avenue, Norco.

If you are coming by way of the 60 or the 10 Freeways: Take the 15 Freeway South. Exit Second Street. Turn left and go to Corona Avenue. Their address is 2606 Corona Avenue, Norco.

FIELD TRIAL

We had no sooner received AKC approval to our judges slate for the upcoming Field Trial, when Cindy Leffingwell advised us that she and Bill would be unable to judge after all. It seems that Bill recently underwent some additional tests following his heart surgery and the doctors advised that he must lay low and not ride for an additional three months.

In the meantime, Don is scrambling for another couple of judges to cover the stakes that Bill and Cindy were going to cover. After the new judges agree to their assignment, we must again contact AKC for their blessing. The bottom line is that the premiums for the trial will be mailed out shortly. (I was hoping to have them included with this issue of the Hot Wire.)

Just a gentle reminder that membership dues are due January 1, 2002. There is a renewal form with this issue. Please take a few minutes to mail your dues to Fran…that way, it’ll be done with and outta the way!

Note from the Editor:

All news about you, your dogs (Gwp’s or other canines), and your family are readily accepted for inclusion in the Hot Wire. You can email me at ruwyrd@aol.com with all the information. Please, please make sure that your news contains the complete name of the dog (registered name and call name). It would be most helpful if you also included the dates and the name of the event your news is from (the show, field trial club, or hunt test club). Let me know if your most precious woofie finished any title! WOW those are really “Hot Flashes”.

Happy New Year to All!
May 2002 bring all good things to you!
