NOTES FROM THE EDITOR

Much has happened in my life since the last Hot Wire issue was published in March. I sold my home of 17 years, rented it back for two months, resigned from the school where I taught for four years, moved four years of teacher-accumulated stuff, bought a new home, had kennels built for the dogs, and now have boxes and boxes of stuff to unpack. My golly, what a job! I have been interviewing with different school districts and hope to have a position shortly. In the meantime, I did receive official notification that I now have a REAL teaching credential (no longer on an emergency permit).

I apologize for the delay in getting the news out to you and hope you understand the reasons.

NOMINATION COMMITTEE REPORT

The Nominating Committee (originally Karen Nelsen, Charlie Licitra and Luanne Leweler) presented a slate for your consideration as officers of the club for the upcoming year. The original slate was:

Karla Weber President
Don Magoon Vice- President
Luanne Leweler Recording Secretary
Karen Nelsen - Corresponding Secretary
Cathie Magoon Treasurer

Board Members
Linda Ercoli, Jim Kidder, Charlie Licitra and Jimmy Rice

Unfortuately, Luanne and Steve were unable to continue as members, so Luanne was dropped from the committee and Recording Secretary. Jimmy Rice also asked to be dropped from the slate. Fran Kidder reconsidered not being Treasurer and asked to be put on the ballot.

As the Club was unable to schedule an election meeting, I consulted with several long time members, and as Committee Chairman, I made the decision to combine the two secretary positions and delete one of the Board member positions. This still gives an “odd” number of seats on the board and would eliminate the potential for any tied votes.

As of March 31st, there were 21 paid memberships and a ballot is being included with those members’ newsletters. They will be mailing their ballots to Joan Payton for counting. Nine additional people renewed memberships at the specialty or shortly prior to that event and are ineligible to vote.

SPECIALTY SHOW

As usual, Joan Payton and her crew did an incredible job with the Specialty Show. Joan always manages to find the neatest awards (in this case, black wrought iron GWP leash hangers). Along with her trusty helper, Leslie Troncale, Joan had a phenomenal raffle at the luncheon after the show. (Where did they ever get so much stuff?) Karla Weber secured to best sandwiches, and everyone else brought something to share at the lunch. It was good to see our Las Vegas/Overton friends, Linda Sanders and Marylou and Regan Bune. Jodi and Tom Quesnell made the trip from Idaho and returned with a Best in Specialty Show win for Cruiser (DC Jet Set’s Rag Top Day at Scotia, JH). Marylou and Regan’s dog went home with Winner’s Dog honors. I bet they’re glad they made the trip too!

Joan would like to thank everyone who gave so generously to the Awards Fund for the show. A listing of donors and winners are as follows:
